Meet Mark Butcher Regional Managing Partner of Ernst & Young...


Mark was appointed Regional Managing Partner in September 2007 and now leads over 200 professionals that make up Ernst & Young South Australia. With over 20 years of working both internationally and interstate in banking and professional services, Mark has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, divestments, due diligence and structured finance arrangements.

A qualified chartered accountant, Mark’s early career was in insolvency, working in the UK on high profile insolvencies during the boom period of the early 1990s. Upon his return to Australia in the mid 1990s, he led large projects in South Australia before joining Macquarie Bank in Sydney where he worked on a broad range of corporate finance transaction projects. Mark joined Ernst & Young South Australia in March 2006 as leader of the Corporate Finance Team.

Across his diverse working experiences Mark has enjoyed negotiating commercial outcomes that benefit multiple stakeholders, developing interpersonal connections and through these, acting as an agent for change.
